John Maternoski’s 2014 Terminal Thesis project, “Where the Sidewalk Ends,” is now on public display at the University of Oregon in Portland.  The project explores the role that design plays in obesity and diet-related disease, and attempts to address the problem through comprehensive urban design and the rethinking of grocery store design for a site in Mobile, Alabama. John’s project joins a handful of others’ selected from three 2014 terminal studios exploring the themes of “(Re)Generative Design,” “The Urban Waterfront,” and “Art+City.”  The exhibition will be on display in the Commons area at the University of Oregon in Portland through the end of October, and will be part of UO’s exhibit in “Design Week Portland,” taking place October 4-11, 2014.
